Midtown Plaza & Cornwall Centre

As a mom of three who worked from home for many years, I can attest how easy it is to let oneself go. How fun it was helping Saskatchewan’s premier fashion centres, Midtown Plaza in Saskatoon and Cornwall Centre in Regina, reach out to the legions like me. The sister properties both ran this campaign. (Listen to the three radio spots first. They’re my favourite!)   Angie

SaskTel infiNET

SaskTel infiNET

It’s not every day you get to name a $670-million fibre optic network. I’m grateful to Brown for the opportunity — and, of course, to SaskTel for choosing infiNET. Not only does this revolutionary network provide crazy-fast internet, TV, gaming, streaming etc. — it will accommodate any and all future capabilities and never need to be replaced. The potential is downright infinite! (And it’s nice to be part of anything my kids think is cool.).  Angie

Shhhhh!

Sometimes people ask me to write things on their behalf — as if it’s in their own words. They may know what they want to say — they just want my help with how to say it. Sometimes, though, they really don’t know what they want to say. And that’s okay, too. It happens to all of us on occasion — even those of us who work with words for a living. Either way, I’m always touched and honoured to help. But whenever someone needs me to write something that will actually come out of their mouth or be signed in their name — say, a speech, an article, an op-ed, a book, even a private or sensitive letter — it would be, at best, tacky and, at worst, unethical for me to reveal I wrote it. So, I never do. But if you need help with something like this, just ask. I see myself as more of a channeler than a writer anyway. You see, Humanly’s motto is “Start from the heart.” If you’ll let me go inside your heart (that’s where the good stuff is), I’ll relay what I find. Then you’ll get inside hearts, too. ❤️  Angie

P.S. If you’d like to talk to someone in whose name I’ve written, please let me know and I’ll ask for their blessing before I put you in touch.

Regina Symphony Orchestra

How to help one of Northern America’s longest-running symphony orchestras attract younger audiences without alienating longtime subscribers? Have fun celebrating the romance and passion of live classical music. After all, even those with a little snow on the roof still have fire in the furnace! The RSO adopting a racy Stones lyric as their positioning line took the snoot factor down, too. My employer at the time, Brown, was the RSO’s ad agency for many years. (I sure miss those free tickets!) As an extra below, you’ll see the ad I wrote for the back of the RSO program.   Angie

Radio

TV may get the glory, but radio’s always had my heart. In the theatre of your mind, there are no limitations. And now, 14 of my favourite radio spots for your imagining pleasure…

Let me give credits where credits are due: I wrote the City of Saskatoon radio ad featuring Mayor Charlie Clark after I founded Humanly Branding & Marketing. I wrote the Cornwall Centre, SGI, DirectWest, Canadian Cancer Society and Clickabid ads while employed at Brown Communications Group, Jane’s Skin Care & Day Spa, freelance for Jane’s, Affinity Credit Union and RSO, freelance for Brown, Saskatchewan in motion, freelance for Arcas Advertising. Thank you all! Angie

Saskatchewan Legislative Building

Talk about a dream assignment for a history buff: write visitor display panels for the Saskatchewan Legislative Building as the landmark neared its 100th birthday. Rather than rehash what’s covered on the guided tour, or the basics you’d find on a Google search, I made it my mission to unearth surprises — not just about the building and grounds, but about the visionaries and craftsmen who built them. (Fun fact: Q-Tips and saliva restore paintings like nobody’s business.)   Angie

LG Fitness

Most gym marketing is a snore. One membership promo after another. Ad agency Arcas wanted to introduce LG Fitness with honesty and humour. Besides, laughing’s good for your abs!

TV

Don’t touch that dial! We’ll be right back after these commercial messages…

But first I’d like to thank my talented partners: I wrote Hillberg & Berk’s The Story of Sparkle Christmas vignette. The pros at Play Creative Media brought it to life on screen. I wrote the SGI, Saskatchewan in motion and Clickabid spots while employed at Brown Communications Group, the SaskTel ads, freelance for Brown, the Government of Saskatchewan Melville Communiplex video, freelance for HJ Linnen Associates. (Better stop now before the orchestra plays me off.) Angie

Mosaic

Every spring, the Mosaic multicultural festival beckons thousands to travel the globe and eat themselves silly without leaving Regina. Sign me up! Noblet Design Group hired me to create a tagline for the festival and I had a blast volunteering two years in a row on the Social Media Ambassador team tweeting (and eating) on behalf of Mo The Gnome. He may be diminutive, but we made sure his personality was anything but! The ad at the bottom of the page is from a couple of years later — my friends at Arcas Advertising asked me to write a fun headline.  Angie

Hotel Saskatchewan

Hotel Saskatchewan

Bustling with discerning business travellers during the week, historic Hotel Saskatchewan was quiet on the weekend. We proposed inviting local couples to take a spicy staycation, branding the offer the MarriageSaver weekend romance package. Newspaper ads in the financial section guaranteed, ahem, return on investment. This one’s still my favourite.   Angie
